My direct contributions to this design was art & creative direction, illustrator and designer. I also maintained brand. I worked on previous versions of this infographic for the past four years and was responsible for evolving it from year to year with minimal client direction.
PROBLEM
In the 2020 version, the agency client wanted it to follow a campaign design in which a Enterprise Ireland Powerpoint was supplied for me to use as creative inspiration. I was working with the agency principal who had gained trust in what I could provide. With limited inspiration, I made the most of the very few elements to evolve this project. The powerpoint was very color dominate so I used compatible greens to make it work. Enterprise Ireland also added regional versions this year by expanding the project to include six US states.
PROCESS
Initial project scope phone meeting with the agency principal.
Info-data was supplied via a Word documents via text. No creative direction.
With experience on this project, I followed existing Enterprise Ireland branding and fonts.
The Powerpoint had a duotone photo treatment that I replicated.
Explored options of displaying the info-data differently than past years.
Presented 3 concepts of the global infographics. Once that was selected, I worked on 3 concepts for the States (CA, GA, IL, MA, NY, PA).
DELIVERY
The agency supplied the final high-resolution artwork to Enterprise Ireland who used it on their website, print and trade event graphics.
OUTCOME
The agency principal was very pleased and conveyed Enterprise Ireland was happy. He runs a small branding agency and is happy he can hand-off projects that return quickly with solid designs.
RESPONSE
The agency principal excitedly mentioned the Enterprise Ireland infographics were included in CNN story. Everyone was happy upon hearing this.
BARRIERS
Having the trust of an agency client is great to have. The downside can be they can expect results with limited or no direction. I think this is where having a B2B background, art director experience and broad scope of designing various types of content serves us all well.
