Infographics Three - Legrand
My direct contributions to this design was art direction, designer and illustrator while maintaining corporate brand identity.
PROBLEM
Conveying loT & Smart Home trends in a easy-to-understand way to a broad audience of Architects, Engineers, Interior Designers, Installers & Homeowners. The client wanted infographics because they can make the complicated easier to understand especially for a broad audience.
PROCESS
I received simple direction on the project and was supplied with copy and supported by notes on images to create.
I have been specializing in the development of infographics which is a discipline in itself. This makes it easier for the client because it is difficult to provide full detail for a project like this. It’s why they call me.
Working with the concepts they need to share to this broad audience required a higher than expected 13 mini-infographics that needed to be combined in a understandable and relatable way.
Concepting & Ideation was computer-based since I had completed previous infographic work for Legrand, but did also did quick sketches to start visualizing 13 spaces within the area.
I used previous creative themes from work I completed for the IoT & Smart Home segment to maintain graphics standards in case these content assets were used together.
DELIVERY
This project was content for website that was driven by email and Goggle Ad campaigns. It was also used as social media snippets in Twitter and Facebook to drive the audiences to their the website.
OUTCOME
Fantastic. Because of the success we have had with infographics, Legrand will be expanding their use. Also because of my efforts, they will be expanding their Brand Guidelines by adding secondary colors.
RESPONSE
Social Media channels had a 20% increase in web conversions to review the entire Infographic. It was a bit unexpected, but the infographic had web downloads that were a 35% increase over other content for the IoT & Smart Home segment on their North American website.
BARRIERS
The client wanted to use a different color palette from the initial infographic project to help differentiate them, but the Brand Guidelines didn’t have additional options. I used an online color tool to help specify groupings of color swatches.
Infographics are a specialty to develop, Legrand had the additional complexity of having 13 storylines to convey which can generally be information-overload. We made it work. I suggested we might try a narrower audience next time to see if the metrics support this approach.
